Research Analyst
Reporting to the Head of Research, the Research Analyst will be responsible for providing regular, insightful financial content across IG's websites.
Job responsibilities
- Carry out research and preferably know how to retrieve data from a Bloomberg or Reuters terminal
- Update spreadsheets and macros
- Assimilate market information quickly and write timely commentaries on forex, commodity and equity markets
- Analyse financial statements and prepare pre-result reports on LSE-listed equities
- Assist in the development of strategy/in-depth research reports and presentations when necessary
- Occasionally write educational reports on particular market themes
- Ability to generate long/short trading ideas
- Attend company and industry presentations
Essential criteria
- Proven ability to write research reports
- Good knowledge of financial markets and economics
- Strong quantitative skills and proven analytical capacity
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail and ability to be consistent
- Comfortable with handling figures
- Well-organised and efficient
- Self-starting, enthusiastic team player who will be willing and able to help colleagues at peak times
- Confident and friendly
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Desire to learn about IG's investment products and a willingness to develop
- Solid understanding of how economic, political and regulatory changes influence a particular asset class or sector
